Sara Qehaja
I graduated from Southampton University in 2003 and have worked in various NHS settings which include adults forensic and learning disabilities, mental health, eating disorders and both acute and community hospitals. I have extensive experience working in mainstream schools as well as completing assessments and intervention programmes for individuals. I first began and found a passion for working with children when I spent several years abroad working in the Balkans for a charity. I found that these children and their families faced such challenges and I then began to complete additional training courses to further develop my skills. I am also currently involved in working to support young people at risk of being admitted to hospital and young people who are looked after.
I recently completed my Master's in sensory integration, completing my dissertation on care-givers' views and experiences of co-regulation. I have skills in working with developmental coordination disorder (DCD), Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Social Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties and Trisomy 21. I enjoy working with all ages including adults on regulation, fine and gross motor skills and sensory integration difficulties. I can complete standardised assessments to formulate programmes and inform interventions, ensuring that the tasks are fun and engaging in order to promote engagement and build confidence.
I am a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapy and I am registered with the Health Professions Council.
