Nusrat Hussan
I am a highly experienced Occupational Therapist with over 17 years of clinical practice across India and the United Kingdom. I specialise in working with children and young people aged 0–19, supporting a wide range of needs including developmental, neurological, orthopaedic, rheumatological, and sensory processing differences. I completed my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Occupational Therapy in India and began my career at the National Centre for Autism in New Delhi, where I developed a strong passion for supporting children with complex needs. Since moving to the UK, I have worked across community and hospital settings, including Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, and Hertfordshire community NHS services, which has given me a broad and well-rounded clinical background.
For the past 14 years, my focus has been in paediatric occupational therapy, working in Cambridgeshire community services. I work closely with children, families, and schools to understand each child’s unique strengths and challenges, and to support them in achieving their full potential in everyday life. My approach is holistic, practical, and tailored to each child's individual needs.
I offer comprehensive assessments, personalised therapy programmes, and workshops to parents/teachers based on the Person–Environment–Occupation model. I have supported children with sensory processing differences and have completed Level 1 Sensory Integration training in 2023 to further enhance my practice.
I completed a NIHR-funded Pre-Masters Internship with the University of East Anglia in 2020, which strengthened my commitment to evidence-based practice.
In addition to my clinical work, I commenced a Lecturer Practitioner role in April 2024 at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, where I teach Occupational Therapy students.
I believe in working collaboratively with families, schools, and other professionals to create meaningful, achievable goals that make a real difference to a child’s daily life. My aim is to empower children and young people to build independence, confidence, and participation in the activities that matter most to them.
