Lauren Dempsey BA (Hons) Occupational Therapy
I am a highly experienced and dedicated Occupational Therapist with a passion for working with people. I qualified with a BA (Hons) in Occupational Therapy from the University of Northampton in 2014. Over the last decade, I have had the privilege of working with children in a variety of settings, including schools, nurseries, client homes, and in the community across several counties in England, as well as in Bangkok, Thailand.
I have a specialist interest in neurodiversity and Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), also known as dyspraxia. I have contributed to service development by creating a dedicated DCD pathway and have undertaken extensive professional development in this area. I have significant experience with a large number of children with DCD and sensory issues through my NHS roles. I have completed specialist training in both CO-OP (Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance) and Occupational Performance Coaching. CO-OP and OPC are evidence based treatment approach used by occupational therapists to help children and adults learn new skills and improve their ability to perform daily tasks. I enjoy using a holistic, evidence based approach to foster children's development and independence. I have also worked with children with a wide range of complex needs, including Cerebral Palsy, ADHD, ASD, and other neurological conditions.
My experience also includes providing leadership and management to clinical teams. I am currently a Clinical Team Manager for Children and Family Health Devon, where I manage day to day operations, ensure excellent clinical standards, and provide support and supervision to clinicians. Prior to this, I founded and directed my own specialist Occupational Therapy service, providing expert interventions to children nationally.
I am a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) and am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I am committed to continuous professional growth and am always seeking to expand my skills and knowledge.
